Violet absolutely loves her babies and will often have an array of dolls surrounding her as she goes to bed at night. Every evening she diligently feeds, brushes their hair and baths them too. This year for her birthday, she received a BABY Born Soft Touch baby which she plays with all the time so as she’s been such a great big sister to Pearl during lockdown, we thought it would be a lovely treat to add the BABY Born Soft Touch Sister doll to her collection too. Not only as another doll to play with but to help teach her even more about the role of being a big sister. I think lockdown has really brought the girls together, Violet has shown such a caring side towards Pearl, sharing her toys, showing her what to do and playing silly games they’ve made up. They spend most of the day giggling and chasing each other around – it’s been so lovely to see their bond grow even further, so the BABY born Sister doll was the perfect gift for her. The BABY Born Soft Touch Sister doll is a more grown-up version of the original BABY Born Soft Touch. She has long, silky hair plus she’s flexible, able to bend at the knee and stand unaided, so she’s a proper little toddler. As she has such long, gorgeous hair she comes with an array of hair bands and clips to encourage hair play, as well as a drink bottle and a pair of trainers.

She also comes with a friendship bracelet set – which has one for the doll and one for the child, which is a sweet touch.

Violet was so excited to unbox her new baby – she couldn’t wait as I helped her by carefully snipping all the toys out of the box to release her new doll.

As soon as her doll was out of the box she gave her a huge hug and started to introduce herself to her doll, it was such a cute moment. She then went straight for playing with her hair – taking it down from the bands securing it and giving it a brush through. The clips are really easy to use to she was able to style and brush her babies hair without my help and created lots of different styles (most with the clips all along her fringe!)

She then asked to give her baby a drink – the doll can drink real water so we filled her water bottle and gave her a drink. She will either have a wee on the potty after or you can squeeze her arm and she’ll cry real tears too!

The BABY Born sister doll is also fully bathable, so next was a bath! Luckily isn’t a problem as the water drains out and it doesn’t ruin her hair. I was a bit conscious of getting it tangled so we put it in a plait to keep it all together during bathtime which made it a lot easier to brush out afterwards.

After being played with daily, our BABY Born’s hair is starting to look a bit dishevelled, it’s super silky but as Violet can be a bit brutal with it, often using her hair to carry her from room to room (oops!) it can get in quite a mess. She has so much hair! I’ve found that giving it a brush through with some water and putting it in a plait or ponytail helps to keep it neat ready for the next play.

Violet has really been enjoying playing with her BABY born sister doll, creating little families and a ‘big sister club’ with her new doll and her collection of reborn dolls. She talks to her like a real friend, styles her hair and clothes and takes her for walks in the buggy, pointing out trees, birds and flowers along the way. It’s been a great toy to introduce during lockdown as she gets so absorbed in play it’ll keep her busy for hours.
