It’s summertime so that also means wedding season is in full swing for us. This year we’ve been lucky enough to be invited to see some of our closest friends get married, so we’ve been busy planning dresses, outfits, gifts and more! Even as guests, I always find a wedding takes quite a bit of preparation, let alone being the ones that were getting married!
This month, we went to the wedding of our good friends Hugh & David. Violet was a their flower girl and it was the most perfect day. Before the big day, we meticulously picked out her dress, shoes and outfit, choosing some bright rainbow sandals to add a pop of rainbow colour to represent London Pride, which was also happening on that day. She looked a picture in her dress. In the run up to the wedding, I had been so worried that she wouldn’t have the courage to walk up the isle in an unfamiliar environment, with all of those faces looking at her but and my heart burst with pride as she took to her role and walked up the aisle perfectly, giving the congregation a twirl and a dance along the way. It was an emotional afternoon and a beautiful ceremony all round. Not a dry eye in the house.
Violet is a little party girl at heart, she loves music and danced all day and all night – even during the ceremony, where she asked for ‘Baby Shark?’ quite loudly, and twirled and curtsied to her hearts content. Oh to be two years old. We tried to get her to sit down, but there was no stopping her, Pearl even joined her on the floor for a little bounce and bop around too. They were HILARIOUS. Luckily, I was so touched when some of the guests and family of the grooms came over to say her little dances and moves had entertained them and made their day extra special with her sweet additions. Hopefully it’s those little funny, personal touches that helped to make the Grooms big day special too.
Now, I am blessed with the job of planning another good friend of mine’s wedding in September and I’m so in the zone after Hugh & David’s beautiful wedding in June! We’ve taken to Pinterest and have been planning and organising everything to the fine detail. Finding the perfect wedding dress is so difficult, let alone the moment you buy a bridal dress online! But making a Pinterest board has really helped pull together some ideas and styles to suit her style and flatter her figure. I think if I were to be the one to get married, I’d be looking for a lace mermaid wedding dress online, but obviously I can’t reveal any secrets about my friends wedding dress…….. yet! It’s top secret until September, of course!
