Being someone that often struggles to sleep, having a good bedtime routine is essential. I’ve realised there are two main things that help me to feel a lot more comfortable and relaxed when it comes to bedtime. Firstly – going to bed feeling pampered with my favourite products is the first part of winding down for the night and secondly I also make sure our bedroom is a relaxing comfortable environment for drifting off for a great nights sleep. For me, having this space to wind down in is essential, often bedtime is where my mind starts whirring and I can’t switch off. Putting in the extra effort to make bedtime a really lovely relaxing experience has really paid off for me.
My perfect pampering products
Firstly, let’s start with the pampering. The whole process of cleansing is when I really start to relax. It’s a lovely feeling to know your skin feels soft, cleansed and moisturised before bed, so I use some of my favourite products as part of a mini-pamper session. Just recently I’ve been loving The Body Shop’s Chamomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter, this comes a cute little tin and smells gorgeous. The silky formula literally just melts into the skin, cleansing my makeup away with no need for harsh scrubbing or rubbing plus the chamomile scent is perfect to start the drifting off process! I give my skin a gentle polish and get excess dirt out of my pores using the Exfolia Microfibre Reusable cloth from Jica. This has amazingly soft fibres that are able to remove 99% of skin impurities without chemicals in an incredibly gentle way. To moisturise, I give my skin a bit of a treat with a rich overnight mask from Pure Supplement, a Korean beauty brand. I received this in my last Memebox and have been using this on days I want to give my skin that extra nourishment whilst I sleep. For hands and lips, I use Bee Good’s Intensive Hand Cream and Vanilla & Honey Lip Balm, these both smell incredible and are made with British honey to condition my skin overnight too. Lastly, Of course having clean, sparkling teeth is a bedtime essential, plus it makes me feel good too so I always use Listerine with Whitening for an extra gleaming smile in the morning!
Comfy PJ’s, Slippers and a good book
For relaxation, I think its essential to feel warm, comfortable and relaxed before bed so I always try and set the mood by lowering the lights and lighting a few candles. Yankee candles are perfect as they fill the room with gorgeous scent too, their fresh cotton, chamomile tea or lavender scents are all great for aiding a restful sleep. Snuggly PJ’s and slippers are perfect, my favourite at the moment are all from Boux Avenue. They gave me these cute giraffe slippers at the launch of the Brighton store, and they are so soft and warm. Lastly, once I’m in bed, reading always sends me off to sleep. I use the Kindle app on my tablet. This does mean the temptation is there to check my twitter and emails so I switch off my internet to stop the notifications showing. My tablet also lowers the screen brightness on the Kindle app meaning the light isn’t too harsh either.

Firstly – going to bed feeling pampered with my favourite products is the first part of winding down for the night and secondly I also make sure our bedroom is a relaxing comfortable environment for drifting off for a great nights sleep. Easing into bedtime – from the moment you decide to turn in until the point where you take off the Michael Kors glasses and doze off to sleep – is the best way to ensure a restful night. For me, having this space to wind down in is essential, often bedtime is where my mind starts whirring and I can’t switch off. I definitely find if I stick to this routine it sets me up for a good nights sleep.
