On Sunday I was invited up to London to join The Body Shop for Fashion Scout as part of London Fashion Week. Hosted at The Freemason’s Hall just outside of covent garden Fashion Scout is one of London’s biggest fashion showcases for both emerging and established designers. The Body Shop sponsor all the make up for the event and are responsible for creating the stunning looks we were to see strutting down the catwalk.
I’d never been to an event like this before, so I was feeling a tad apprehensive about what to expect! However, after a small panic about what to wear and a very early start, I hopped on the train from Brighton to London, full of wonder as to what the day might hold for me. I met fellow blogger Sophie of Sophie Rose Hearts at Victoria and headed over to Covent Garden together, chatting along the way. We both decided we felt anxious like it was our first day at school all over again! Finding the venue was easy enough and soon we were being whisked past the large queue forming right down the street, straight backstage to the media lounge, where we were greeted by the lovely Body Shop ladies.
Only minutes after arriving we were whisked backstage for our first show, by designer Xiao Li. Backstage was completly manic, a hot room crammed full of people trying to get the models ready for the show. We were lucky enought to have a quick chat with Lan Nguyen, the head make-up artist for The Body Shop. She gave us an overview of the look they were creating for the models. The look she created is a really fresh faced look using no foundation but the All-in-one BB cream with primer. She told us about the well known Instablur primer, well this now comes as an eye primer too, this was used on all the models to create a really flawless natural, dewy look. Lan then used neon pink shades of eyeshadow and lipstick to create pops of colour. She described how she created the perfect pout using Colour Crush Lipstick in 205 Passionate pink by building up the colour without using lipliner to give a softer look. She mentioned highlighting or building up the colour in the enter of the lip to create a fuller lip. Lastly, she mentioned she used Radiant highlighter to accentuate the cheekbones and groomed natural brows. Great tips, a look I will be trying myself for sure
Our afternoon was filled with by rushing between shows and backstage again. In total we saw 3 shows, each were all an amazing and different experince in their own way, the showcases we saw were designers Xiao Li, The Swedish School of Textiles and Vita Gottlieb. There were definitely some quirky styles going on, but the abience of every show was absolutely buzzing with excitment. My favourite show of the day had to be Vita Golieb, she focuses on graphic print, subtle colours and innovative panelling, I loved the fact her clothes are a twist of contemportary styles and vintage.
Between shows myself and the other bloggers Sophie, Sammi and Victoria had a little bit of time to chill out and chat in the media lounge, plus we were treated to a lovely manicure and some nail art from the Body shop team using their new Colour Crush Nails range too. What a perfect day!
Overall I want to say a big thank you to The Body Shop for having me at Fashion Scout, I had a really great time, I can’t wait for next year!
